SPECIALISED DRY NEEDLING

UK #1 for Functional Integrated Dry Needling

Dry Needling, using solid filiform needles, stimulates soft tissue healing, relieves musculoskeletal pain, and reduces biomechanical dysfunction. It's popular for acute and chronic pain, replacing oral/injected medications, and aids various musculoskeletal issues.

What is Dry Needling ?

Dry Needling is a specific clinical technique which uses the skilled application of solid filiform needles, to penetrate the skin and stimulate the healing process of soft tissue (muscles, trigger points, fascia, ligaments and tendons), improve musculoskeletal pain and reduce biomechanical dysfunction in the body.

It is widely recognised as a popular and effective method for treating both acute and chronic pains and is becoming increasingly preferred in place of oral or injected medicines.

Dry Needling can be used to alleviate a variety of musculoskeletal ailments such as, muscle, fascia and connective tissue dysfunctions (trigger points), restore structural impairments of the body and improve physical activity.

NOTE: Dry Needling should only be performed by a qualified and skilled therapist

What is Functional Integrated Dry Needling ?

Functional Integrated Dry Needling (F.I.D.N) is used for ‘pain management’ and ‘functional rehabilitation’. It is a neurophysiological evidence based treatment which focuses on improving the anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the human body.

F.I.D.N uses both ‘segmental’ and ‘non-segmental’ techniques to positively effect peripheral pain fibres and functional points in the muscles, fascia/myo-fascia and connective tissue.

What is the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture ?

Traditional Chinese Medical Acupuncture (TCM) is based on the principle of affecting the ‘meridians’ (energy pathways) of the human body. TCM practitioners claim that by inserting needles into specific acupuncture points along the ‘meridian lines’, they can indirectly impact and improve function of the systems of the body, for example, the digestive, muscular, endocrine, reproductive systems etc.

Unlike TCM, Dry Needling focuses on impacting the ‘pain pathways’ of the body, by directly stimulating the soft tissues (muscles, trigger points, fascia, ligaments and tendons). These techniques are proven to improve how the soft tissues perform, alleviating fibrous tension, reducing inflammation, improving range of motion, removing swelling and increasing neural sensitivity.

Benefits of Dry Needling :

F.I.D.N is very effective in the treatment of the following conditions;

  • Muscle tension
  • Trigger point release
  • Tennis elbow / Golfers elbow
  • Sciatica
  • Spinal disc dysfunction
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Migraines / Headaches
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome
  • Joint Pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Hayfever
  • Temporomandibular joint pain (TMJD) – sore jaw.
  • Excessive swelling – joints/muscles
  • Fibromyalgia
